Career in Information Technology(IT) Field
The products of Information Technology are a part of our daily lives, whether it’s the operating systems, the computer networks or the reams of information sought on the Internet. Computers have not only assumed strategic importance in the corporate world but they are being effectively used in other fields as well ranging from space exploration to food processing and banking to communication etc.
Information Technology has revolutionised the whole world. In India, the government has recognised the promising future of this industry and has formed a new IT Ministry which will give a boost to this industry. Thus, it is evident that careers in the IT field are expected to grow significantly in the next decade.
The current availability in India of such skilled professionals is only five percent of the required amount. The phenomenal growth which this industry is witnessing has led to it being recognised as one of the highly paid industries.
Computer Science
Computer Science is the scientific and mathematical approach to computation, and specifically to the design of computing machines and processes. It should not be confused with Information Technology as the emphasis here is more on understanding program properties. Software Engineering, Logarithms and Data Structures are some of the specializations often opted for in this field.
Majority of graduates in this field pursue their career as project leaders, junior programmers, system analysts etc. Major employers in this field are AT&T, HP, IBM, Dell, Intel, Google, IBM, Yahoo amongst others.
